Abstract(s)
Este texto investiga a possibilidade de um “capitalismo ético”. Para o fazer, analisa as noções de “espírito do capitalismo” e de neoliberalismo, mostrando de que forma faz sentido operar uma crítica do capitalismo que o revela como uma realidade histórica contingente e mutável. O texto mostra como, através de uma leitura de autores como Smith, Hegel, Sen e Honneth, se pode argumentar existir uma ligação entre a ética e a economia e que a hipótese de uma “orientação ética” dos mercados em ligação com a sociedade é concebível. O artigo analisa também as relações entre o capitalismo e as suas alternativas possíveis, como a ideia de socialismo ou a possibilidade de um “pós-capitalismo”, mostrando que tipo de teoria da justiça é conveniente para dar conta destes problemas, e argumenta que só o exercício crítico e o surgimento de alternativas concretas poderá reorientar a prática económica num sentido mais ético.
This paper investigates the possibility of an “ethical capitalism”. In so doing, it analyzes the notions of “spirit of capitalism” and neoliberalism, showing how it makes sense to put forward a critique of capitalism revealing it as a historically contingent and mutable reality. Through a reading of authors such as Smith, Hegel, Sen and Honneth, the text shows how it can be claimed that there is a link between ethics and economics and that an “ethical guidance” of markets is conceivable. The paper also analyzes the relations between capitalism and its possible alternatives, such as the idea of socialism and the possibility of a “post-capitalism”, showing which type of theory of justice is suitable to tackle these problems, and argues that only critique and new concrete alternatives will be able to reorient economic practices towards a more ethical path.
