Neste artigo traça-se o percurso singular de um padre jesuíta, Carlos João Rademaker, restaurador em 1858 da Companhia de Jesus em Portugal. Orador reconhecido, viajante infatigável, foi um dos defensores do catolicismo romano saído do I Concílio do Vaticano. Arauto do neocatolicismo de raiz liberal e intransigência romana, viria a marcar indelevelmente a segunda metade do século XIX português.
This paper talks about the singular course made by Carlos João Rademaker, a jesuit priest, restorer in 1858 of «Society of Jesus» in Portugal. Eloquent public speaker and indefatigable traveler, he was a defenser of roman catholicism that came out from Vaticano I Council. Herald of a neocatholicism with liberal roots and roman intransigence, he was a indelible figure in Portugal second half of ninetheen century.
