| dc.description.abstract | This article analyzed the impacts of COVID-19 and social isolation on the mental health of higher education students in Ceará, Brazil. The sample consisted of 3691 higher education students who, online from June to September 2020, answered two instruments: questionnaire of the socio-demographic and situational profile in relation to the pandemic and social isolation and the Mental Health Inventory. The results showed that 21.2% had their activities canceled, with no expected return. The majority, 77.2% reported concern about the death of someone close to them due to Covid-19 infection. The overall state of mental health measured by the inventory with an average of 48.8. This result suggests that students had their mental health affected by the conditions imposed by the pandemic. It is concluded that educational institutions should promote strategies for the protection of the mental health of the student community. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Este artigo analisou os impactos da COVID-19 e o isolamento social na saúde mental de estudantes do ensino superior do Ceará, Brasil. A amostra foi composta por 3691 estudantes do ensino superior que, de forma on-line no período de junho a setembro de 2020, responderam dois instrumentos: questionário do perfil sociodemográfico e situacional em relação à pandemia e isolamento social e o Mental Health Inventory. Os resultados mostraram que 21,2% tiveram suas atividades canceladas, sem previsão para o retorno. A maioria, 77.2% relatou preocupação com a morte de alguém próximo devido à infecção pelo Covid-19. O estado global de saúde mental mensurado pelo inventário com média de 48.8. Este resultado sugere que os estudantes tiveram sua saúde mental afetada pelas condições impostas pela pandemia. Conclui-se que às instituições de ensino devem promover estratégias para a proteção da saúde mental da comunidade estudantil. | pt_PT |
