| dc.description.abstract | INTRODUÇÃO: A dignidade humana, inerente ao fato de sermos seres humanos não pode ser criada ou destruída. No entanto, a dignidade social pode ser alterada consoante o estabelecimento de relações, podendo ser quebrada. Esta é influenciada por valores e tradições. Dignidade em cuidados paliativos identifica-se como o respeito pela pessoa até ao final da sua vida. OBJETIVOS: Identificar os fatores que contribuem para a dignidade da pessoa em situação paliativa. METODOLOGIA: Revisão narrativa baseada em artigos com idade igual ou inferior a cinco anos, que tenham estudado a dignidade em cuidados paliativos. RESULTADOS: Foram identificados dez artigos para análise, que resultou na categorização em: fatores que contribuem para a perda da dignidade identificados pelos profissionais, pela pessoa e pela família. DISCUSSÃO: São importantes cuidados centrados na pessoa e família, sendo que a percepção de todos os intervenientes pode ser diferente e igualmente importante. A dignidade da pessoa em situação paliativa é promovida pelo respeito aos seus valores, privacidade e autonomia, bem como por cuidados integrados e individualizados que aliviem sintomas físicos e emocionais, preservem a conexão social e respeitem crenças e práticas espirituais. CONCLUSÃO: É fundamental o conhecimento por parte dos Enfermeiros de Cuidados Paliativos das implicações da perda de dignidade. A comunicação, enquanto pilar dos Cuidados Paliativos, deverá ser a base de atuação para promoção de bem-estar físico, psicoemocional e espiritual, permitindo uma morte digna. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Human dignity, inherent to the fact of being human beings, cannot be created or destroyed. However, social dignity can be altered depending on the establishment of relationships, and it can be broken. This is influenced by values and traditions. Dignity in palliative care is identified as respect for the person until the end of their life. Objectives: To identify the factors that contribute to the dignity of people in palliative situations. Methodology: Narrative review based on articles aged five years or less, which have studied dignity in palliative care. Results: Ten articles were identified for analysis, which resulted in the categorization into: factors that contribute to the loss of dignity identified by the professionals, the person and the family. Discussion: Person- and family-centered care is important, and the perception of all stakeholders can be different and equally important. The dignity of the person in palliative situations is promoted by respect for their values, privacy and autonomy, as well as by integrated and individualized care that alleviates physical and emotional symptoms, preserves social connection and respects spiritual beliefs and practices. Conclusion: Palliative Care Nurses are essential to be aware of the implications of loss of dignity. Communication, as a pillar of Palliative Care, should be the basis for action to promote physical, psycho-emotional and spiritual well-being, allowing for a dignified death. | eng |
