Frei António de Sant’Ana Galvão (1739-1822), frade franciscano da Província da Imaculada Conceição (Brasil) e descendente de um português, tornou-se, em 2007, no primeiro católico natural do Brasil a ser canonizado.
Neste texto são sumariamente apresentadas a sua biografia e as diversas fases da sua Causa de Canonização, cujos primeiros requerimentos datam de finais dos anos 30 do século XX.
Fray António de Sant’Ana Galvão (1739-1822), Franciscan friar of the Province of the Immaculate Conception (Brazil) and a descendant of Portuguese, became in 2007 the first Catholic native of Brazil to be canonized. In this paper are briefly presented their biography and the various stages of the Cause of Canonization, which first applications date from the late 30s of the twentieth century.
