O presente volume inscreve-se na longa tradição cultural de voltar a olhar de novo para o corpo que somos. Ele insere-se, para além disso, na linha de trabalho desenvolvida pela Cátedra Manuel Sérgio – Desporto, Ética e Transcendência. A Cátedra assume ser sua missão não apenas cultivar o estudo da obra de Manuel Sérgio, mas também continuar na senda por ele aberta, aprofundando a matriz humanista da sua filosofia e explorando vias abertas pela sua visão original da motricidade humana. Este é precisamente o caso dos ensaios que dão corpo a esta obra. Possivelmente pela primeira vez (pelo menos com esta desenvoltura), um grupo de teólogos e estudiosos de religião dialoga com o pensamento sergiano ou com temas centrais na sua obra,
aproximando-se de algo até aqui nunca explorado: uma teologia da motricidade humana.
This volume is part of the long cultural tradition of looking again at the body that we are. It is also part of the line of work developed by the Manuel Sérgio Chair – Sport, Ethics and Transcendence.The Chair assumes that its mission is not only to cultivate the study of Manuel Sérgio's work, but also to continue on the path he opened, deepening the humanist matrix of his philosophy and exploring paths opened by his original vision of human motricity.
