The objective of this review article is to analyze the relationship between social media use and psychological well-being in young university students. To this end, a systematic review of the scientific literature was conducted in databases such as Scopus,Scielo, and Latindex, selecting 10 review articles and 10 original research studies for comparative analysis and organization into a synthesis table. The results show a significant relationship between problematic social media use and decreased psychological well-being in university students, manifested in symptoms such as anxiety, depression, loneliness, and low self-esteem. However, positive effects associated with their use were also identified, such as the strengthening of social connectivity and the sense of belonging to a community.Regarding practical implications, the findings highlight the importance of promoting responsible and balanced use of social media in the university context, through the provision of resources and tools that guide students toward healthier practices. Likewise, the need to continue researching this relationship isemphasized in order to understand it more deeply and design effective strategies that promote the psychological well-being of young university students in digital environments.<br/>
