This research aims to understand how Business Intelligence (BI) tools can contribute to improving financial strategy, using Otis Portugal, a leading company in the vertical transportation sector, as a case study. The increasingly competitive business context turns BI into a strategic ally capable of supporting more effective decision-making. Through the case study, we observe that Otis’s processes show a strong manual dependence, making them more susceptible to errors, which hinders the strategic role of the financial department. A questionnaire was administered to employees, and it was found that there is agreement regarding the current limitations, especially the lack of access to real-time information, difficulty in data consolidation, and insufficient automation. The results also show that there is consensus regarding receptiveness to the adoption of BI systems, with advantages being recognized such as faster analysis, process automation, and improvement in information quality, although concerns remain regarding training, technological integration, and change management. Thus, it was concluded that the implementation of BI represents a strategic opportunity for Otis, potentially increasing the efficiency of financial processes and strengthening the analytical role of the financial department and its support to top management.
