Martins, Maria Manuela BritoThe main intention of our study was to focus on the classic and philosophical elements in the first two novels of Camilo Castelo Branco: Anathema and Mysteries of Lisbon. In the first place we try to reveal some classical elements in the diegetic construction of the Camillian novel and specify the type of classicism that characterizes it. Next, we highlight the poetic characters that integrate the construction of the novel, specify those that best approximate the canon of Aristotelian ‘poetics’ and draws conclusions of the metaphysical expression of their novels. Finally, we explore some philosophical elements in certain texts of Camilo’s literary criticism thus corroborating the elements attested in the Novel.
- Questões sobre a “teoria do género” na história da tradição filosófica gregaPublication . Martins, Maria Manuela BritoEste artigo tem como principal objetivo analisar algumas das questões que são levantadas pela ‘teoria do género’, quanto à tradição histórica da filosofia, e pelos problemas que ela suscita, quanto à categoria ‘mulher’. As questões colocadas pelas filósofas contemporâneas sobre o ‘género’ obrigam-nos a melhor avaliar os cânones da tradição filosófica grega e a identificar alguns dos aspetos mais pertinentes a este respeito. De seguida, problematizamos a ideia de género e damos alguns dos senti-dos que este conceito tem na tradição filosófica grega, em particular, em Aristóteles e Platão. O sentido último do nosso artigo não é fazer uma leitura feminista ou anti-feminista dos gregos, mas antes efetuar uma leitura interna de alguns dos textos de Aristóteles e Platão onde a questão de género emerge, no âmbito do seu pensamento, do ponto de vista biológico, antropológico e ontológico.
