- Unravelling data for rapid evidence-based response to COVID-19: a summary of the unCoVer protocolPublication . Peñalvo, José L.; Mertens, Elly; Ademović, Enisa; Akgun, Seval; Baltazar, Ana Lúcia; Buonfrate, Dora; Čoklo, Miran; Devleesschauwer, Brecht; Valencia, Paula Andrea Diaz; Fernandes, João C.; Gómez, Enrique Javier; Hynds, Paul; Kabir, Zubair; Klein, Jörn; Kostoulas, Polychronis; Jiménez, Lucía Llanos; Lotrean, Lucia Maria; Majdan, Marek; Menasalvas, Ernestina; Nguewa, Paul; Oh, In-Hwan; O'Sullivan, Georgie; Pereira, David M.; Ortiz, Miguel Reina; Riva, Silvia; Soriano, Gloria; Soriano, Joan B.; Spilki, Fernando; Tamang, Mary Elizabeth; Trofor, Antigona Carmen; Vaillant, Michel; Ierssel, Sabrina Van; Vuković, Jakov; Castellano, José M.Introduction unCoVer - Unravelling data for rapid evidence-based response to COVID-19 - is a Horizon 2020-funded network of 29 partners from 18 countries capable of collecting and using real-world data (RWD) derived from the response and provision of care to patients with COVID-19 by health systems across Europe and elsewhere. unCoVer aims to exploit the full potential of this information to rapidly address clinical and epidemiological research questions arising from the evolving pandemic. Methods and analysis From the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, partners are gathering RWD from electronic health records currently including information from over 22 000 hospitalised patients with COVID-19, and national surveillance and screening data, and registries with over 1 900 000 COVID-19 cases across Europe, with continuous updates. These heterogeneous datasets will be described, harmonised and integrated into a multi-user data repository operated through Opal-DataSHIELD, an interoperable open-source server application. Federated data analyses, without sharing or disclosing any individual-level data, will be performed with the objective to reveal patients' baseline characteristics, biomarkers, determinants of COVID-19 prognosis, safety and effectiveness of treatments, and potential strategies against COVID-19, as well as epidemiological patterns. These analyses will complement evidence from efficacy/safety clinical trials, where vulnerable, more complex/heterogeneous populations and those most at risk of severe COVID-19 are often excluded. Ethics and dissemination After strict ethical considerations, databases will be available through a federated data analysis platform that allows processing of available COVID-19 RWD without disclosing identification information to analysts and limiting output to data aggregates. Dissemination of unCoVer's activities will be related to the access and use of dissimilar RWD, as well as the results generated by the pooled analyses. Dissemination will include training and educational activities, scientific publications and conference communications.

- Erratum: Bioactive extracts from brewer's spent grain (Food and Function (2020) 11 (8963–8977) DOI: 10.1039/D0FO01426E)Publication . Bonifácio-Lopes, Teresa; Vilas Boas, Ana A.; Coscueta, Ezequiel R; Costa, Eduardo M.; Silva, Sara; Campos, Débora; Teixeira, José A.; Pintado, ManuelaThe authors regret that an incorrect version of Table 2 was included in the original article. The correct version of Table 2 is presented below. (Figure Presented).“Consequently, sections of the text in the manuscript should be adjusted according to this change, and these are detailed below. The paragraph on page 8968 beginning “As it can be seen in Table 2…” should be correctly given as follows: “As it can be seen in Table 2, the content of total phenolics (TPC) varied from 1.83 mg gallic acid per g BSG, when ethanol was used, to 13.26 mg gallic acid per g BSG for the 60% ethanol : water extract, which represents a 0.9 fold increase in the extraction yield. It is worth highlighting that the highest amount of TPC obtained in the present work (13.26 mg gallic acid per g BSG) was higher than the values previously reported by McCarthy et al.41 (1.26–4.53 mg gallic acid per g BSG) by alkaline hydrolysis. It is also possible to see that the extraction with 60% ethanol : water was more efficient than the one performed with 100% ethanol. According to Spigno et al.42 the addition of water to organic solvents leads to the increase of the polarity of medium, which facilitates phenolic compound extraction. The results obtained in the present work (Table 2) also showed that the extraction using only water was not as efficient as when using ethanolic mixtures as solvents, since phenolic compounds have higher affinity for less polar medium, such as ethanol.43” The sentence beginning “ This value is much lower compared...” should be correctly given as “This value is much lower compared to that for the 60% ethanolic extract, since it showed ca.7 times less activity in the case of the ABTS method and ca. 10 times less than in the case of the ORAC method.” The sentence beginning “The highest values of ABTS…” should be correctly given as “The highest values of ABTS assay were obtained with 60% ethanolic extract, which was 5 times higher than the water extract and very close to the 80% ethanolic extract.”” The Royal Society of Chemistry apologises for these errors and any consequent inconvenience to authors and readers.

- Lebret’s Christian-inspired societal project and integral human developmentPublication . Martins, Nuno; Teixeira, VítorIn this article, we describe how Louis-Joseph Lebret’s work, propelled by his human-centred spirituality, contributed to the development of an approach aimed at the transformation of social and economic structures, so as to achieve integral human development. We discuss too the connections between Lebret’s legacy and the advancement of Integral Human Development within the Catholic Church. Finally drawing on a relational ontology (and the way it is expressed in the idea of a relational community in Catholic Social Teaching), we address the similarities and differences between the approaches to human development which were adopted in, respectively, the Catholic Church and the United Nations, which is another central institution with which Lebret interacted.
