- Feminism(s) & NGO leadership in emergent societiesPublication . Mendes, Constança Silveira Corrêa; Faria, Alexandre de AlmeidaPurpose – This work aims to identify how different perspectives of Feminism influence the leadership practices of an NGO from Latin America. In the course of this work, determinants of feminisms are analyzed and implications for the NGO leadership are drawn. Design/Methodology – The research relies on primary data collected through interviews with three people that have a close relationship with the organization. To draw valid conclusions, the data was analyzed using a protocol framework. Findings – The presence of different perspectives of feminisms that co-exist in harmony can be a main factor to prepare the organization’s leader to deal with complex situations. Using a strategy of both/and leadership leads to effective and successful organizational outcomes. Research limitations – This work focused on an NGO located in Brazil, more specifically in Rio de Janeiro. NGOs from other locations were not covered by the data, therefore no general conclusions on the leadership of NGOs from other places can be drawn. Practical implications – This research can help organizations in the business world to understand the importance of feminisms and how being able to respond to paradoxes can lead to effective and successful organizational outcomes. Originality – To the knowledge of the author, this is the first study that combines the topics of Feminism with the leadership of NGOs, to better understand the relationship between them.

- Erratum to: Bridging the gap between economic modelling and simulation: a simple dynamic aggregate demand-aggregate supply model with matlab (Journal of Applied Mathematics (2018) 2018 (3193068) DOI: 10.1155/2018/3193068)Publication . Gaspar, José M.In the article titled "Bridging the Gap between Economic Modelling and Simulation: A Simple Dynamic Aggregate Demand-Aggregate Supply Model with Matlab" [1], an incomplete version of the SupplementaryMaterials was published. Also, there was a typographical error in the numerical evaluation section, where the word "supplemantary" should be corrected to "supplementary." This occurred due to production errors. The complete updated version of the Supplementary Materials is available here. Supplementary Materials The Matlab code is embedded in a single function (ADASdynamic. m). Add the ".m" file to the working Matlab path/directory. Open Matlab and run the name of the file in the command window (ADASdynamic). The programme asks the user to introduce values for the parameters described throughout the paper, including the initial time and final time. It then produces three figures: one is for the solution y(t), another is for both πe(t) and π(t), and the last one shows the phase diagram portraying the transition dynamics. The programme will then ask the user to implement either monetary, fiscal, supply side shocks, or any possible combination of shocks, by introducing new values for the money growth rate, public spending, tax rate, and level of natural output. This will produce three new graphs, with the same information as described previously, but compared to the initial situation. Therefore, the figures shown after implementing shocks will portray the global transition dynamics towards the new equilibrium. Along these processes, the output for the relevant steady-state levels and their qualitative properties are shown in Matlab's command window, along with the parameter values. See Appendix B for an example of how the output is displayed inMatlab's command window. (Supplementary Materials).
- How partnerships can shape social enterprises' strategies : the case of Progetto QUIDPublication . Ferrarini, Marta; Vasconcelos, Isabella Francisca Freitas Gouveia deThe purpose of this thesis is the study of the effect the cross-sector partnering has on social enterprises’ strategies. The recent literature suggests partnerships can help social enterprises to scale impact, to sustain profitability and to enter new markets, but the resulting interactions moved by distinctive goals can also push social enterprises to drift away from their mission. The case of Progetto QUID, an emerging Italian social enterprise in the Fashion industry, offers practical insights towards the possible challenges and opportunities deriving from the engagement of different stakeholders, and how a team can manage them. All the data about Progetto QUID were personally collected with the help of Professor Tommaso Ramus in the period between 2017 and 2018. The case study is interesting for the types of partners QUID has, for-profit and non-profits, which stress even more the complexity of managing a hybrid organisation. The presence of these external actors derives from the appealing business model that combines three elements: the social mission through work inclusion, the environmental goal of recovering waste raw materials and the economic dimension, which supports the dual purpose and differentiate them of similar entities. The case touches multiple aspects aiming to unify some theoretical and empirical knowledge as well as engaging students in this realm that is both growing and consolidating, but which needs further research.
- The relationship between cultural dimensions and goal orientationPublication . Nogueira, Madalena Maltês de Almeida; Aggarwal, IshaniThe purpose of this study consists on understanding the relationship between cultural dimensions and goal orientation. Specifically, the research seeks to explore if some cultural dimensions of GLOBE Project are related to goal orientation, specifically Learning and Performance Goal Orientation. A quantitative research method was used in the study to collect responses from individuals through an online survey previously elaborated. The relationship between five cultural dimensions and Learning and Performance Goal Orientation were tested through multiple linear regressions to understand if there were significant relationships between them and to test if those were positive or negative. The results supported two out of five hypotheses proposed. Performance Orientation was positively related to Learning Goal Orientation, as well as Institutional Collectivism was negatively related to Performance Goal Orientation. Although the opposite relationship was proposed in the hypothesis, the relationship between High Power Distance and Performance Goal Orientation was significant. Remaining relationships tested did not yield significant findings. Finally, the results obtained could provide important information about specific cultural behaviors needed to engage with to incur and follow a particular goal orientation, as well as, significant information to future research in this area.
