Ao longo da sua vida, este Papa tem reflectido profundamente sobre questões políticas no sentido mais abrangente do termo. A sua originalidade parece incidir na preocupação com o papel dos católicos enquanto católicos nos países ocidentais onde se tem assistido a um recuo da religião, em geral, e do catolicismo, em particular. Na segunda parte deste breve ensaio, procuro passar em revista a obra de João de Salisbúria, recomendada pelo Papa, e tento estabelecer alguns paralelos entre o pensamento político de ambos.

- Adaptação e validação da Resilience Scale® de Wagnild e Young para a cultura portuguesaPublication . Felgueiras, Marta Cristiana; Festas, Constança; Vieira, MargaridaO objectivo deste estudo é descrever o processo de adaptação transcultural e de validação para a cultura portuguesa da Resilience Scale® (RS), originalmente criada em inglês, nos Estados Unidos da América, por Wagnild e Young (1993) para aferir níveis de resiliência. Uma equipa de tradutores bilingues e biculturais participou no processo de tradução de forma a aumentar a exactidão linguística e a correlação cultural. A escala foi adaptada para uma amostra de estudantes do segundo e terceiro ciclos do ensino básico de uma escola pública de Viana do Castelo, Portugal. Participaram 215 estudantes com idades compreendidas entre os 10 e os 16 anos. Um item foi excluído por apresentar uma baixa correlação com o total (inferior a 0,2) e diminuir a consistência interna. A fidelidade dos constructos foi avaliada através da consistência interna (Alfa de Cronbach), e estabilidade no tempo (análise do teste-reteste). O valor de Alfa de Cronbach foi 0,82 evidenciando boa consistência interna e a correlação do teste-reteste, estudada num subgrupo de 30 alunos foi de 0,72 (p<0,001) demonstrando boa estabilidade temporal. A validade de conteúdo foi determinada por juízes especialistas, a validade do constructo foi determinada através da análise dos componentes principais (ACP) com rotação varimax para determinar o número de componentes e a sensibilidade através do teste t de Student aplicado ao índice de discriminação do item. A média dos scores na RS foi de 126,26. A partir da análise dos componentes principais surgiram 5 componentes: Perseverança, Autoconfiança, Serenidade, Sentido de Vida e Autosuficiência. Estes resultados evidenciam a fidelidade, validade e sensibilidade da versão portuguesa adaptada da RS para avaliar a resiliência na cultura portuguesa e conclui-se que este é um instrumento útil para estudos que se proponham avaliar a resiliência e para orientar a prática de enfermagem, embora se conclua da necessidade de futuros estudos de revalidação.

Supera-se assim a separação racionalista entre o “Jesus histórico” e o “Cristo da fé”.

Ratzinger no seu tratado sobre a escatologia e do seu contributo na desconstrução do pressuposto assumido na escatologia sobretudo no âmbito da teologia protestante, mas que encontrou amplo acolhimento também na teologia católica, segundo o qual a escatologia cristã seria devedora dos esquemas do pensamento grego. No seu intento de desplatonizar a escatologia, J. Ratzinger foi levado progressivamente à verificação de que o sentir eclesial se distancia criticamente do esquematismo grego e que na sua concepção antropológica da relação alma-corpo é essencialmente cristã, relevando-se assim a novidade da concepção cristã do homem na sua constituição metafísica, com grandes consequências para a escatologia e muito especialmente para a escatologia intermédia. O sentir eclesial surge como critério da teologia e princípio de verificação da verdade ou inverdade das teorias. A exposição procura relevar o contributo do estudo de J. Ratzinger para a escatologia, tanto do ponto de vista do método como do ponto de vista sistemático.

- Comunicação e eficácia numa equipa virtual: regras e afinidadePublication . Gomes, Ana Célia Calapez; Lopes, Carla Bianca Dantas SouzaThe aim of this paper is to show, through the analysis of an actual international virtual team, the growing importance of collective work in the global economy, as well as the virtualization of cooperation using ICT’s as material providers of communication. Concerning the methodology, a descriptive and exploratory approach was adopted, in which quantitative and qualitative research instruments were applied, highlighting in this context the use of primary source material, namely the collection of electronic messages exchanged between team members during the process of team formation and consolidation. The data analysis suggest that the team failed to establish formal rules of communication, which negatively influenced work efficiency, but simultaneously it was able to partially overcome the problem through the progressive building of affinity and trust.
- Image, ritual and urban form: Porto in the 16th CenturyPublication . Afonso, José FerrãoIn the early 17th Century, the Spanish painter Francisco Pacheco railed against his apprentices, telling them that the image should stand out of the picture. The topic was the one most debated in the art of the Counter-Reformation, whose main directives, outlined in the Council of Trent, would be put in motion simultaneously with urban "Christianisation". They presupposed a social contract, established between producer and receiver, implying maximum clarity of the message, which involved an ambiguous grey area that would be reserved for the outside of the focus. In painting, which sacrificed everything that was incidental or extraneous to the story, showing the essential and neglecting the accessory, the binary radicalism of the concept became more explicit, through the Caravaggian illumination or in the case above, the Spanish tenebrism of Velásquez, to whom Pacheco's admonition was addressed. In our Doctoral Thesis presented at the School of Architecture in Barcelona, we sought to demonstrate that the Plastic Arts were not the only field for the application of Luminist principles. In this article we aim to summarise this thesis by exposing the important relationships between image, ritual and urban form in 16th Century Porto, after a time, therefore, the late Middle Ages, which Huizinga classified as deeply iconophile , in which image and ritual were put at the service of the reformulation of a State becoming increasingly centralised and interventionist, whose action extended to the sphere of the Church: with King João II, and especially King Manuel I, the Crown was an active sponsor of religious reform that was pursued with redoubled energy and systematisation, from the reign of "the Pious", then already within the political system of close bilateral cooperation that was designated the Confessional State. We therefore believe that this type of approach to anthropological and symbolic components, which seeks to take into account the increasing importance that is given in contemporary research on the city's history, can be very fruitful.
- European piano schools: Russian, German and French classical piano interpretation and techniquePublication . Lourenço, SofiaThe goal of this research is to characterize representative performances by famous pianists in order to determine main influential trends in performance, derived specifically from traditional piano practices referred to as National Piano Schools. Previous research (Lourenço, 2005, 2007) has shown strong musical correlation of particular characteristics, namely the aesthetic, the technical, the historic and the repertoire. The concept of piano interpretation school is a useful concept for analyzing the universe of piano performance. Piano pedagogy literature of each European National Piano School has been analyzed together with an empirical audio analysis of recordings through a check-list survey. Overall the main National Piano Schools consist of three essential branches: the Russian school; the German school; the French school. The identification of National Piano Schools provides a powerful framework of study and an awareness of Europe's elusive music heritage and it main influences. Furthermore, as pianists use their whole body to enhance their communication of the music's spiritual, emotional and dramatic essence, this study also aims to contribute into research on performance practice.
