Silva, Tiago Filipe Lemos da; Xavier, RuteThe financial sector is going through a major strategic disruption and no kind of organization is being more dramatically affected than banking institutions. Also known as the “FinTech Revolution”, new players are entering the market with innovative business models disrupting the value chain, much related to the changing consumer preferences towards a more digitalized and customized experience. On another hand, public and political organizations are also coming to terms with the changing tide in this sector, thus, developing regulation that suits and increases the disruption, as is the case with the European Union and the recent PSD2, a new payments directive that will deeply affect the sector. In accordance to this, the client (Montepio) intends to release a mobile application that includes the features already in place for mobile banking applications, features from mobile payment applications and, features from personal financial management services. An application that offers all these features combined is still non-existent in the Portuguese market, although similar ones have been released in other countries. Therefore, the goal of this dissertation is to study the prospective interest of consumers in using an application of this kind, but also, in what terms should it be available to the consumers. The main conclusion is that Montepio should opt for releasing the application with the defined features in such a way that also includes aggregation of banking account from other banks, as well as being the first bank to release it in Portugal with a focus on relationship marketing.
