- Controlling through decision-making in a luxury e-commerce company : farfetch case studyPublication . Martins, Catarina Soares; Marques, Luís Manuel DionísioMy Masters final paper aims to describe, in a theoretical way, the current decision-making process followed by the consumer payments operational team and identify its weaknesses. This study was held in the context of a case study, at Farfetch Limited. This study was possible due to the analysis and research of data about the company and the observation in the work context of the mentioned process. In addition, a semi-structured interview was conducted with the company's Head of Payments and Fraud, an active participant in the decision-making process of the payments department in which the observation work was carried out In this sense it was possible to validate that, although structured in an informal way, the operational team follows a structure that is aligned with the models defined by some of the authors mentioned, namely Simon (1997), Drucker (2001) and Cooper (1990). In parallel, the process that occurs in the payments department when making strategic or functional decisions was described, covering all internal phases from the preparation of the main strategy to its operationalization. Since Farfetch is a national company with great international presence, especially since it was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), it is concluded that its decision-making process is developed in full harmony with the organization and in the implementation of its goals. However, for more effective control, some monitoring measures have been suggested.
