Cannabis consumption is more prevalent today.
The effects associated with consumption and abstinence can be very relevant to personal and occupational
health. Stand out from changes of the notions of depth/distance, time, and memory/attention and
increased reaction time; some also mention anxiety, verbiage, euphoria, relaxation, despersonalization,
disorganized and accelerated thinking, delirium and agitation. Within the chronic effects we find changes
in attention/memory, learning ability and decision making, as well as depressive syndromes, anxiety,
agitation, delirium and the possibility of increasing the incidence of psychiatric illness in some. The
consumption of this substance is also associated with greater probability of consuming other psychoactive
products and greater likelihood of accidents.
