Howard Phillips Lovecraft criou nas suas obras atmosferas literárias marcadas pelo terror, onde são projectados muitos dos fantasmas que assombram a mente humana. No presente trabalho, partindo da analise de três obras (At the Mountains of Madness, The Nameless City e The Shadow over Innsmouth), tentaremos compreender a importância da representação das cidades em ruínas, a sua simbologia no universo lovecraftiano e o modo como são configuradas através dos olhares e percursos dos diversos narradores.
HP Lovecraft created in his works atmospheres marked by terror, which have designed many of the ghosts that haunt the human mind. In this paper, we will analyse three works (At the Mountains of Madness, The Nameless City and The Shadow over Innsmouth), and we will try to understand the importance of representation of cities in ruins, how they become symbolic in the Lovecraft’s universe and how they are configured through the regards of the different narrators.
