- Evaluating a reference model for SAV in urban areasPublication . Pereira, Antonio Reis; Portela, Pedro; Bicho, Marta; Silva, Miguel Mira daPrevious work presented a reference model for shared autonomous vehicles in urban areas supported by a systematic literature review and topic modeling. The proposed reference model was then evaluated with two real-world demonstrations: the service provided by Waymo in Phoenix and another offered by Baidu in Beijing. In this paper, we present another evaluation based on a survey conducted with a group of potential stakeholders belonging to the mobility industry who were asked about their agreement with each of the concepts in the reference model. The resulting artifact is stronger and more reliable because it reflects the feedback of mobility experts.
- Shared autonomous vehicles in an urban areaPublication . Portela, Pedro; Bicho, MartaThrough the research conducted by De Carneiro et al. (2023) and Pereira et al. (2023), 35 concepts were found as crucial for the implementation of Shared Autonomous Vehicles in an urban area. This thesis aims to validate the importance of these concepts. To do so, a survey was sent out to top-tier managers, from twelve countries, and renowned companies, with high levels of decision-making, to better understand their managing orientation and, ultimately, to validate the concepts. Findings show that the concept “Sanitary Test with QR Code” is rejected, which is fairly understandable given that it was introduced to the reference model during the pandemic crisis of Covid-19 and isn’t relevant anymore. As for the other 34 concepts, 10 of them left the respondents divided and were only partially supported, while the remaining 24 concepts were consensually approved as indispensable for the implementation of this service in an urban area.
