- O banho pré-operatório centrado numa visão histórica e documentalPublication . Afonso, Ana Isabel Maia; Madureira, Maria ManuelaThis report is part of the Master's Degree in Nursing with a Specialization in MedicalSurgical Nursing: Person in Critical Situation, at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, within the scope of the curricular unit: Final Internship and Report. Its purpose is to present the journey undertaken in synergy with a critical and reflective analysis of the activities developed and consolidated in clinical internship settings, contributing to the achievement of the outlined objectives for the development of specialized nursing skills. The first chapter of this report affects research aspect, involving the execution of a systematic review of textual and opinion evidence contributing to master-level skills titled "Nursing Intervention: Preoperative Bath centered on a historical and documentary perspective." With 20 years of professional experience as a nurse in a Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Operating Room, I developed and acquired skills that made it possible to obtain accreditation in the curricular unit: Person in Critical Situation and Family - Surveillance and Clinical Decision. In the multipurpose Emergency Department, the focus was on developing skills in providing care people in critical situations with hemodynamic instability and the risk of organ failure, as well as providing assistance to their families. Among other activities, I directed my learning towards nursing care during intra-hospital transportation of critical patients, promoting reflection and knowledge updating for the nursing team, facilitating a streamlined process. Given the constant need for patient transportation in an Emergency Department, I contributed to promoting a culture of safety and quality in the provision of nursing care. In my professional activities, I provide perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing heart and lung transplants, participate in the organ harvesting team, and coordinate thoracic organ transplant procedures. From this professional reality, the Coordination Office for Harvesting and Transplantation emerged as an area of interest for my internship. This experience facilitated the development of skills in specialized nursing management in the coordination of organ and tissue harvesting and transplantation. In this context, I internalized the ethical and legal dimensions of care for potential recipients, donors, and their families. Regarding the clinical internship in the context of the Cardiotoracic Intensive Care Unit, I directed my experience towards providing specialized nursing care to the people undergoing lung transplantation and their families, considering the specificities of this situation and their increased physical, social, and psychological vulnerability. Among other activities, I stimulated peer reflection on the focus nursing interventions to prevent associated complications and empower the individual and family to maintain the new organ's health and achieve gains in the quality of life. This report represents the culmination of a highly differentiated and enriching journey in the development of scientific, technical, ethical, human relations, professional responsibility, continuous quality improvement, and management of care for people in critical situations. Critical reflection on the experiences lived led to my process of change, with a very positive impact on my personal development and transferable to my professional context.
