Abstract(s)
The main objective of Palliative Care is to promote the best possible quality of life for the patients and their families. Life Review is an effective Psycho-existencial intervention to end of life patients that aims to reeavaluate their perspective of their own life, changing their attitude towards death and providing a peaceful end of life. Considering the scarcity of literature on psycho-existencial intervention on end of life patients in Portugal and taking into account patients and relative needs, the goal of this investigation is to develop a psycho-existencial intervention protocol based on Life Review. The protocol is based on existing literature on the intervention and on the specificities of Palliative Care context. Furthermore, having documented that terminal illness translates to a demanding experience for the family also, we thought it was appropriate, on the present protocol, to beware of relatives needs, according to the acting principles of Palliative Care.
