Este estudo pretende analisar a intervenção da Organização do Tratado Atlântico Norte – doravante designada de NATO – no Ártico tendo por base o seu propósito de dissuasão e limitado ao conceito de dilema de segurança.A investigação desenvolvida permitiu concluir que mais do que uma intervenção dissuasora, à NATO é lhe exigido a racionalidade necessária para evitar que o seu propósito se transforme em argumento ao ressurgimento da ordem dos pactos militares (o conceito de Ordem dos Pactos Militares tem por base o apresentado por Adriano Moreira (2011)) que poderá ter sequelas no arquétipo do consenso e naquele que é o espaço definido pelo Ártico dos Cinco. A investigação desenvolvida estruturou-se na introdução, em três capítulos e nas conclusões. Atendeu sobremaneira ao método qualitativo e à análise documental.
This paper aims to analyze the intervention of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization – hereinafter referred to as NATO – in the Arctic based on its purpose of deterrence and limited to the concept of security dilemma. The research carried out allowed us to conclude that more than just a dissuasive intervention, NATO is required to have the necessary rationality to prevent its purpose from becoming an argument for the resurgence of the military pacts order which could have consequences for the consensus archetype and specially in the space defined by the Arctic Five. The research carried out was structured by the introduction, three chapters and the conclusions. The qualitative method and the documentary analysis were applied.
