Com a ajuda da exegese, diacrónica e sincrónica, procuraremos responder às seguintes questões: 1) porque é que o evangelho diz que era necessário que Jesus atravessasse a Samaria; 2) como estão relacionados entre si os vários temas do primeiro diálogo (o conhecimento do dom de Deus e da identidade de Jesus, o dos cinco maridos e do verdadeiro culto) e como estes se relacionam com o tema do verdadeiro alimento e o da ceifa contidos no segundo diálogo. As observações das respostas a estas questões nos levaram a considerar que o que subjaz nesta perícope é a tentativa de ultrapassar a velha rivalidade entre os samaritanos e os judeus, sobretudo na comunidade nascente joanina, sob a narração de um Jesus que está à procura das primícias na terra da Samaria como o enviado do Pai, o Criador-Esposo.The objective of this dissertation is to conduct an exegetical analysis of Jn 4:1-38, where two dialogues are narrated: 1) between Jesus and the woman from Samaria and 2) between Jesus and the disciples. With the help of both diachronic and synchronic exegesis, we will attempt to answer the following questions: 1) why does the Gospel say that it was necessary for Jesus to go through Samaria; 2) how are the various subjects of the first dialogue related to each other (knowledge of God’s gift and Jesus’ identity, the five husbands and true worship) and how do they relate to the subjects of the true food and the harvest contained in the second dialogue.
