Trata-se de um estudo de índole quantitativa, em que foi considerada uma amostra de 170 professores do ensino secundário que responderam ao questionário da relação entre IE e BE no contexto de trabalho, com base nas escalas de inteligência emocional (Rego & Fernandes, 2001) e engagement (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003 cit in Schaufeli, Bakker & Salanova, 2006). Posteriormente, os dados recolhidos foram analisados através da correlação de Pearson, a partir do programa estatístico Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que a IE se relaciona positivamente com o engagement. Logo, partindo da definição de envolvimento no trabalho, que é considerado um estado positivo de BE (Bakker, Schaufeli, Leiter & Taris, 2008), podemos concluir que a IE se relaciona positivamente com o mesmo.In this dissertation, we intend to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence (IE) and wellbeing (BE) in the profession of teachers, through engagement in work. This is a quantitative study in which a sample of 170 secondary school teachers who answered the questionnaire about the relationship between IE and BE in the work context was considered, based on the emotional intelligence scales (Rego & Fernandes, 2001) and engagement (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003 cit in Schaufeli, Bakker & Salanova, 2006).
