O gesto do lava-pés realizado por Jesus, em pouco tempo se tornou sinal de humildade e serviço levando, pois, os Apóstolos e mais tarde aqueles que os seguiam a realizá-lo. A presente dissertação procura desenvolver este tema do lava-pés na vida da Igreja bem como as suas consequências vividas atualmente. Assim, no primeiro capítulo iremos acompanhar a passagem de Jo 13, 1-20 e descobrir as riquezas de cada gesto. No segundo capítulo focalizamo-nos mais na vivência a nível litúrgico do rito do lava-pés ao longo da História da Igreja até aos dias de hoje. E no terceiro capítulo abordamos toda esta temática do serviço e da humildade prestado no lava-pés apontando para a vida do sacerdote ordenado.Jesus instituted the priesthood at the Last Supper, before suffering the Passion, along with a not very orthodox gesture, nor very well regarded by the Jewish people. The gesture of the washing of the feet executed by Jesus became, in a short time, a sign of humility and service leading to the Apostles and, later, those who followed them to execute it as well. The present dissertation aims to develop the theme of the washing of the feet in the life of the Church as well as its consequences lived in the present time. Therefore, on the first chapter, we will read through the passage of John 13, 1-20 and discover the richness of each gesture. On the second chapter, we will focus on the liturgical practice of the rite of the washing of the feet along History of the Church until the present day.
