XVII que se realizaram pinturas em tectos de caixotões, propagando-se de Norte a Sul de Portugal, até mesmo ao início do séc. XIX. A evolução deste género de pintura seguiu os estilos artísticos dominantes da época, em grande parte devido à presença de artistas estrangeiros, e, nalguns casos, ligada a oficinas provinciais. Este estudo, que resultou da tese de mestrado, proporciona um maior conhecimento da pintura dos tectos em caixotões, principalmente no Norte de Portugal verificando também, aspectos a ter em conta na sua conservação e manutenção e possibilidade futura de distinção de autorias e companhias artísticas.Paintings in coffered ceilings spread from North to South of Portugal since the first quarterof the XVII century until as late as the beginning of the XIX century.
