Privilegia a aprendizagem activa, centrada no aluno, com uma forte componente construtivista e de aprendizagem cooperativa. A sua aplicação ao ensino médico e, em particular, à Educação Médica Contínua é bem conhecida e os estudos efectuados revelam algumas vantagens formativas do e-Learning, quer na aquisição de conhecimentos, quer na modificação dos comportamentos e atitudes dos médicos. Este trabalho é uma aplicação dos princípios e da forma do e-Learning ao ensino da cirurgia da catarata pediátrica. Utiliza-se uma abordagem multimodal, que associa uma componente de "instrução directa" à aprendizagem construtivista, orientada pelo aluno. Privilegia-se o formato multimédia, a resolução de problemas e de casos clínicos, a utilização de animações e de simuladores.E-Learning is a new learning methodology, which merges the modern educational theories and the new Web communication technologies. An active student-centred learning strategy with strong constructivist and collaborative elements is favoured. The use of e-Learning in continuing medical education is well known and a few recent studies thoroughly evaluated its educational efficacy. These studies concluded that e-Learning has some advantages of e-Learning both in building up personal knowledge and in modifying medical practice and physicians' behaviour. In this work, e-Learning is used as a means to providing medical education in the field of paediatric cataract surgery.
