Será que esta instituição muda consoante a sociedade? Como é que a sociedade vê as famílias? Que propostas/desafios são lançados às famílias na sociedade hodierna?”. Sim, de facto, o entendimento do conceito família muda conforme os tempos e as sociedades. E é daqui que surgem as propostas e os desafios lançados às famílias dos dias de hoje. “E os idosos? Onde é que se inserem os idosos? O que é, afinal, ser idoso?”. Procura-se compreender o que é ser idoso, quando é que se inicia a terceira idade, a velhice. Podemos clarificar que esta é uma das fases da vida humana, ou seja, faz parte da pessoa, assim como a infância e a adolescência, por exemplo. “E a Igreja? O que tem a Igreja a dizer-nos sobre estes dois temas?” Com o seu olhar atento e preocupado sobre as mudanças que se fazem sentir no mundo, a Igreja, em diferentes documentos, de diferentes épocas, reflete sobre as famílias e sobre os idosos, procurando sempre auxiliar a manter presente a importância quer de um, quer de outro. “E as crianças? Que dizem as crianças sobre a família?” As crianças da turma onde foi desenvolvida a Prática de Ensino Supervisionada têm famílias e sentem a necessidade de falar, partilhar e até mesmo descrever as suas famílias. Por meio de uma linguagem simples, elas falam-nos, permitindo-nos entrar nas suas casas e nas suas famílias, por meio das histórias que partilham.“Family and Elderly: life experiences and opportunities” intends to reflect, as the title suggests, about two issues that easily correlate. “What is a family? Does it change according to society? How does the society see this institution? What proposals/challenges are set to the families in today’s society?”. In fact the understanding of the concept “family” changes over time and societies. And it is from here that come the proposals and challenges launched to the families of the present day. “What about the elderly? Where do the elderly fit in? After all, what is it to be elderly?”. We seek to understand what it is to be elderly and when the old age begins. We can clarify that this is one of the stages of human life, that means it is part of the person’s life, as well as childhood and adolescence. “And the Church? What does the Church have to tell us about these two subjects?”. Watching carefully and with concern about the changes that are taking place in the world, the Church in different documents from different times dwells on the families and elderly people, always trying to help to keep in mind the importance of both. “And the children? What do the children say about the family?”. The children in the class where the teaching practice was developed feel the need to talk, to share and even to describe their families.
