Aqui, procura identificar-se o contexto e a especificidade da interrogação mediológica perante o facto religioso, testando os seus instrumentos de indagação num dos universos de pesquisa privilegiados por Régis Debray: as representações do «Deus Único» e as Escrituras como medium da sua historicização. Depois deste primeiro itinerário, a mediologia de R. Debray é confrontada com os problemas hermenêuticos que decorrem da operação de redução do «sentido» à «função».This essay was written within a broader research project on ‘new theories of religion’. Here the aim is to identify the context and specificity of mediological enquiry in the face of religious fact, testing the instruments it uses for posing questions in one of the research universes favoured by Régis Debray: the representations of ‘the One God’ and the Scriptures as a medium of their historicisation. Following discussion of this initial issue, Debray’s mediology is confronted with the hermeneutical problems resulting from the operation of reducing ‘sense’ to ‘function’.porjournal article10.34632/didaskalia.2008.1893
