To identify in the modern architecture of the church elements of convergence with the new theological and liturgical identity that emerged from the impulse of the Second Vatican Council. Identifying in the church the sacramental value in architecture, when the altar surrounds the assembly and the liturgy, reveals itself in the true expression of community of faith and prayer. Through the quality of the liturgy celebrated in the building, the ecclesial community experiences and transforms itself into a fraternity of evangelical life.O trabalho centra-se sobre a caraterização do projeto de arquitetura moderna da igreja de Águas, no concelho de Penamacor, da autoria do arquiteto Nuno Teotónio Pereira e a sua inserção no novo programa MRAR (Movimento de Renovação da Arte Religiosa). Identificar na arquitetura moderna da igreja elementos de convergência com a nova identidade teológica e litúrgica que emergiu do impulso do Concílio Vaticano II. Mostrar que o processo e o modo de construção, os materiais e as técnicas construtivas, podem estar ao serviço da verdade do Evangelho.
