É uma obra possivelmente maneirista e pensa-se que seja do início do século XVII, muito provavelmente oriunda de um antigo retábulo da igreja, uma vez que esta sofreu alterações no período barroco, sendo o retábulo-mor atual deste mesmo estilo. O estudo teórico-prático refletiu no estudo histórico-artístico da obra e na intervenção de conservação e restauro realizada. Foi elaborada uma descrição e contextualização dos aspetos estilísticos e iconográficos da pintura e do ponto de vista científico procurou-se saber a técnica de construção dos diferentes estratos pictóricos tal como os seus materiais constituintes recorrendo aos exames laboratoriais. A parte prática contou com um diagnóstico do estado de conservação segundo observação minuciosa e tendo em conta os resultados dos métodos de exame e análises realizados, possibilitando uma metodologia de intervenção adequada. Os tratamentos de conservação e restauro aplicados foram tanto conservativos como de restauro, tendo em conta tanto a parte estrutural com vista à estabilização material, como a parte estética, uma vez que corresponde a uma peça de culto religioso, tendo-lhe sido devolvida a leitura.The subject of this internship report is the study of the painting on wood "Assumption of Our Lady" on the high altar of Porto Cathedral. It is possibly a Mannerist work and is thought to date from the early 17th century, most probably from an old altarpiece in the church, since it underwent alterations in the Baroque period and the current high altarpiece is in the same style. The theoretical-practical study was reflected in the historical-artistic study of the work and the conservation and restoration intervention carried out. A description and contextualization of the stylistic and iconographic aspects of the painting was drawn up and, from a scientific point of view, the construction technique of the different pictorial strata and their constituent materials were examined using laboratory tests. The practical part included a diagnosis of the state of conservation according to detailed observation and considering the results of the examination methods and analyzes carried out, enabling an appropriate intervention methodology.
