Os ensaios clínicos são um conjunto de procedimentos de investigação conduzidos no Homem, representando uma etapa importante no processo de inovação e desenvolvimento de novas terapêuticas que podem mudar o curso do tratamento de muitas patologias e fazer a diferença na vida de muitos doentes. Este estágio foi realizado na BlueClinical, mais especificamente na Unidade de Fase I localizada no Hospital da Prelada, e teve como principal objetivo enumerar as etapas desde o pré-ensaio até ao pós-ensaio e caraterizar a função de CTA. Neste relatório está presente a definição de ensaio clínico, qual a sua história, a definição de medicamento experimental, quais as fases de desenvolvimento do medicamento, tipos de ensaios, benefícios e barreiras nos ensaios clínicos e qual a situação destes em Portugal. Mais à frente dá-se destaque à empresa onde se realizou o estágio curricular, a BlueClinical, e de seguida são enumeradas as etapas para a realização de um ensaio clínico, desde a sua preparação, passando pelo durante, até ao após. Este relatório termina com as principais conclusões e trabalhos futuros.Over the last few decades there has been a great growth in the area of clinical research, namely in clinical trials. Clinical trials are a set of research procedures conducted in humans, representing an important step in the process of innovation and development of new therapies that can change the course of treatment of many pathologies and make a difference in the lives of many patients. This internship was carried out at BlueClinical, more specifically in the Phase I Unit located at Hospital da Prelada and had as its main objective to enumerate the steps from the pre-trial to the post-trial and characterize the CTA function. This report presents the definition of a clinical trial, its history, the definition of an experimental drug, the stages of drug development, types of trials, benefits and barriers in clinical trials and the status of clinical trials in Portugal. Further on, the company where the curricular internship was carried out, BlueClinical, stands out.
