As crianças afetadas exibem frequentemente hipersensibilidade dentária, maior suscetibilidade à cárie, ansiedade, medo, problemas de colaboração em ambiente de consulta, efeito anestésico diminuído e preocupações estéticas. Devido ao potencial impacto negativo que a hipomineralização incisivo-molar tem na saúde oral dos indivíduos afetados, e existindo uma notória falta de consenso quanto ao seu tratamento, o objetivo desta revisão é sumariar a informação existente, publicada entre 2000 e 2020, em língua inglesa, relativa às características da patologia, etiologia, diagnóstico e tratamento.Molar-incisor hypomineralization is a systemic anomaly that is characterized by the presence of demarcated opacities in the enamel of at least one of the first permanent molars and the permanent incisors may be affected as well. Currently it is estimated that the condition affect one in six children in the world and its etiology remains unclear. Children affected usually exhibit hypersensitivity, increased caries susceptibility, anxiety, fear, dental behaviour management problems, anesthetic difficulties, and esthetic concerns.
