As variáveis ambientais associadas aos cuidados e práticas parentais, predizem a ocorrência de maiores problemas no desenvolvimento das crianças. Em relação aos cuidados prestados pela mãe, salienta-se a sua importância nos primeiros anos de vida da criança, na medida em que estas necessitam de auxílio na própria regulação emocional (Eisenberg et al, 2009), sendo a capacidade de autorregulação das crianças fortemente influenciada pela experiência de regulação demonstrada pelo principal cuidador (a mãe) (Feldman, 2009). Neste estudo foi administrado um questionário sociodemográfico, a fim de recolher dados de uma amostra de mães e respetivos filhos, o Child Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ) na very short form, para uma avaliação diferenciada do temperamento, e o Questionário de Regulação Emocional (ERQ). Foram encontradas diferenças no temperamento em função do género e idade da criança, idade de entrada no infantário e de a criança ter irmãos. Encontram-se, também, diferenças na regulação emocional materna em função do género e idade da criança, e resultados inconclusivos, marginalmente significativos, em função de existirem irmãos. Relativamente ao objetivo principal do estudo, encontraram-se relações entre o fator reavaliação cognitiva e controlo por esforço. Este estudo contribuiu para corroborar hipóteses presentes na literatura já existente, que é escassa, e como ponto de partida para novos estudos na área do temperamento e desenvolvimento infantil com o objetivo de melhorar a intervenção precoce.In the present dissertation, it was intended to explore the relationship between maternal emotional regulation (cognitive revaluation and emotional suppression factors) and children's temperament (extroversion factors, negative affectivity and effort control), analyzing, specifically, the influence of children's variables on temperament and maternal emotional regulation. The environmental variables associated with parental care and practices predict the occurrence of major problems in children's development. Regarding the care provided by the mother, it is emphasized its importance in the first years of the child's life, insofar as they need assistance in the emotional regulation itself (Eisenberg et al, 2009), being the ability of self-regulation of children strongly influenced by the experience of regulation demonstrated by the main caregiver (the mother) (Feldman, 2009). In this study, a sociodemographic questionnaire was administered in order to collect data from a sample of mothers and their children, the Child Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ) in the very short form, for a differentiated assessment of temperament, and the questionnaire of Emotional regulation (ERQ). Differences in temperament were found according to the gender and age of the child, age of entry in kindergarten and the child having siblings. There are also differences in maternal emotional regulation as a function of the child's gender and age, and inconclusive, marginally significant results, due to the existence of siblings. Regarding the main objective of the study, we found relationships between the cognitive revaluation factor and exercise control.
