Resumo: The speciationofironusingthenewlysynthesized3-hydroxy-1(H)-2-methyl-4-pyridinonebysolid phase spectrophotometryinamicrosequentialinjectionlab-on-valve(mSI-LOV-SPS)methodologyis described. Ironwasretainedinareusablecolumn,NitrilotriaceticAcidSuperflow (NTA)resin,andthe ligand wasusedasbothchromogenicandelutingreagent.Thisapproach,analyteretentionandmatrix removal,enabledtheassessmentofiron(III)andtotalironcontentinfreshwatersandhighsalinity coastal waterswithdirectsampleintroduction,intherangeof20.0–100 mg/L. withaLODof9 mg/L. The overalleffluent productionwas2mL,correspondingtotheconsumptionof0.48 mg of2-metil-3- hydroxy-4-pyridinone,0.34mgofNaHCO3, 16mgofHNO3, 4.4 mg H2O2 and 400 mL ofsample.Four referencesampleswereanalyzedandarelativedeviationo10%wasobtained;furthermore,several bathing waters(♯13)wereanalyzedusingthedevelopedmethodandtheresultswerecomparableto those obtainedbyatomicabsorptionspectrophotometry(relativedeviationso6%).
